In this article, we will guide you through the process of choosing the right design agency for your business.

Let’s dive in!

Hiring experts to create your new website or mobile app is a great idea, but there are a few things you need to know to narrow down the best product design studios and then choose the right one for you. Let's say I am looking for a digital design agency in London. I can directly go to Google and type that, but would that be enough? Here are our tips that will make choosing the right partner easy.

Take your time.

That's an obvious tip, but also an important one. Spending some time researching your options will save you time and money in the future. Creating a digital product is a relatively long process, so you need to find a reliable partner.

  1. Prepare a design document with your goals and success criteria

  2. Find the best UX agencies in your area and city through social media and google search.

  3. Study their blogs and websites to find relevant case studies, design process description, and some background information about a team

  4. Schedule discovery calls with agencies that have relevant experience and transparent process

  5. Pick the one you trust the most and outline the next steps of your partnership.

As you know, we all work remotely because of the pandemic, so be ready for a lot of Zoom calls.

What to do before searching on Google?

What’s the best choice for you?

Before even searching on Google or asking for recommendations, decide if you need a smaller niche product design studio, a website design agency with a vast portfolio of services, or maybe something in between. You surely want to find professionals, but what works for someone else won’t necessarily work for you.

Example: If I am a local business owner, I will most probably choose a good product design studio, despite going with a big website design agency.

Set your goals.

Now is the time to be specific about the specific services that you need. Having a clear vision for the project from the start is very important.

Don't worry if you are not sure what specific service you need. A good expert should be able to help you figure it out.

Techniques such as design sprints can help you get a clear vision of your goals. If you want to learn more about the way we run design sprints at Lucky Duck, check out this article

Search on Google.

If you want to work with a design agency in your area, the fastest way to find suggestions is, of course, using Google. The first results will most probably be the ads, followed by organic search results.

Carefully study company reviews? What agencies have the most trustworthy ones? What do people say about their work ethics and professionalism? You can understand a lot from what clients have to say.

Example: Type ‘digital design agency in London’ or 'product design studio London' and then evaluate the companies and choose the best match.

Look for recommendations.

To choose the right option, ask people in your network for recommendations. Did they work with an agency in the past? Would they recommend it?

Suggestion: A post on Linkedin is a great way to get recommendations and feedback.

What style are you going for?

Most companies have their portfolios or case studies on their websites. If you search for a specific style, you surely need to go through it. Case studies will show you not only the style of a company but also their approach.

You can also take a look at the companies’ social media profiles. Most design agencies upload their work on Instagram, Dribble, or other platforms.

Talk to them.

Once you’ve chosen a company, get in touch with them. Great communication is vital for the success of your project. Our friendly tip is to search for experts, who can explain their ideas in a simple and transparent way.

If you are interested in working with us, you can get in touch with us using the form on our website or by emailing us at What happens next?

We get back!

We will get in touch with you with some more info about us and some additional questions about your project.

The next step of the process is what we call ‘a friendly chat’. For that, we usually schedule a Zoom meeting. The purpose of the call is for us to get to know each other better. Additionally, you can ask us all the questions that bother you.

We draft a plan of action.

After the call, our designers and developers draft the action plan, and we will get back to you with a proposal. We arrange a call again, in case you have more questions or any other concerns.

We would love to chat about your next project! You can fill the form or alternatively email us at We will get back to you shortly.

We hope that our article was useful to you and it’ll help you find the product design studio or design agency that will truly fulfill your needs. If you search for a product design studio in London, get in touch and we will do the rest. Don’t forget to check our blog for more useful content.
